The Intern

Photo Hello to everyone out there in the blogger’s world! I’m the new kid on the block over here at Crystal Agency. My name is Chelsea Von Mach and I am currently Crystal’s new intern and blog author. An aspiring stylist myself, I’m currently a student at Los Angeles’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, otherwise known as FIDM.

I found Crystal after reading her book, “The Hair Makeup & Fashion Styling Career Guide”. I contacted her, and fortunately she was looking for interns! I quickly jumped on the opportunity, interviewed with her, and thank God I got the job!

Crystal has been a direct Mentor to me every step of the way. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such a talented group of people that teach and inspire me everyday.

Crystal Agency Stylist Janellica Ohanian's "Winter Wonderland" for Statement Magazine

Janellica_edit_stmtmag001 Crystal Agency stylist  Janellica Ohanian took a simple red Valentine’s Day dress and turned it into a “Winter Wonderland” masterpiece for Statement Magazines February 2008 issue. “I wanted to keep the winter theme, but also cross over a bit into spring, since it’s right around the corner,” says Janellica.

Janellica pulled the look together with ACCESSORIES, which have been extremely prevelant this year in the fashion world. The printed floral, lace tights especially reflect the upcoming trend this spring of floral patterns and unique tights.

Awesome job Janellica, keep up the good work!

Who Styles Tasha Smith's Hair

Darico_tasha_7 Who did Tasha Smith's hair? Who does Tasha Smith's hair? Who styles Tasha Smith's hair? These are the questions I get everyday through phone calls, and emails.

Just today a woman in New York emailed me and said, “I'm not a celebrity but I can afford to have my hair done by a celebrity stylist. I am willing to pay what ever it costs to get my hair done by her stylist. Please tell me how I can make an appointment. I have been to every salon in the metropolitan NY area and I cannot find what I am looking for. Money is not a problem but my hair is. I have resorted to wearing a ponytail most of the time because my hair is just not what I want it to be. My hair is shoulder length and I am of mixed heritage so my hair is wavy and thick. My colorist just can't get it right and my hair cut is passable. Please put me in touch with somebody who can make my hair look like Tasha's. I have a plethora of girlfriends who are looking for the same thing.”

Darico_heartnsoul_lores001 I apologize to all the women in the world. I didn’t realize we were keeping it such a secret. The hair stylist is Darico Jackson, also known as Rico. He is based in Los Angeles, California, represented by guess who, and available for photo shoots, fashion shows, commercials, TV and more just by calling 323.906.9600.

If you want to book him for a salon or in home appointment, call us at 323.906.9600 or shoot me an email.

To view more of his work visit Hair by Darico for Tasha Smith and Others.

02_2134_07 Tucked away between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains lies the elegant and beautiful Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barabara where celebrity couple Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott escaped for some R&R and a photo shoot for Statement Magazines February 2008 issue. 02_2134_03_4
Our celebrity stylists Melinda Tarbell and Tiffani Rae dressed the couple. Melinda worked with Tori and Tiffani with Dean. The night before the shoot, Melinda swung by Tori’s house to collaborate on her looks. “Tori’s legs are one of her greatest assets, so we showed them off in shorts and dresses” says Melinda. She also showed off Spring 2008’s runway looks using vibrant colors and floral prints.
02_2134_06_3 For Dean, Tiffani used brands such as Modern Amusement and Bread Denim to stand by his rocker style. “Dean’s strong Scottish heritage inspired him to collect kilts through out his travels. I saw him photographed wearing one in the past, and I had to have him in one!” exclaimed Tiffani.

Up and Coming Musical Phenomenon Jolita Sakmanaite Calls Upon Crystal Agency for a Makeover

02_jolita_01_3      Jolita Sakmanaite, a future musical superstar, requested the Crystal Agency to create a few looks for her new website. Hailing from Lithuania, Jolita has a 4-octave vocal-range and is currently working on her new CD filled with R&B, pop, and dance tracks. In deciding on the direction of her musical image, Jolita drew inspiration from present and past pop icons Angelina Jolie, Paris Hilton, and Marilyn Monroe.
Fashion stylist Tiffani Rae, hair stylist Darico Jackson, and make-up artist Uzmee Krakovszki collaborated on five look02_jolita_03_3s for the beauty. Darico worked miracles on Jolita’s hair. Her mohawk hairstyle was the show stopper, which was picked up by trend blog; “TG Public Image:Beauty-Health-Life”. Darico achieved the rocker look by, “first crimping all of her hair using Sebastian Shaper Plus Hairspray and Sebastian Laminates Concentrate Gel, and then back combing and shaping the hair into a mohawk style”.
Jolita was extremely satisfied with the finished product and had this to say, “I want to thank Crystal Agency for gathering such a great team! I love the pictures, everyone did an awesome job!”

Hair and Make-Up Artist Uzmee Krakovzski and Fashion Stylist Tiffani Rae Lend a Helping Hand for the Cover of Batanga Magazine Featuring Actor Rick Gonzalez

Rick Gonzalez has a street casual style, and the photographer wanted him to maintain his rough, and gritty look. To fulfill the photographer’s expectations, celebrity stylist Tiffani Rae chose a color palette of dark greens, deep purples, golds, and reds, and then grabbed shoes from Reebok’s new 2008 line, which she described as being “incredibly versatile”.

Celebrity Hair Stylist Darico Jackson Gets a Little Help From His Friends

Darico_and_friends

When it came time for Celebrity Hair Stylist Darico Jackson to create a new comp card to market himself, he knew he needed something special. So instead of going the regular route of thumbing through his portfolio to find the right images, he decided to ask for a little help from his friends.

Within a couple of days Darico had managed to do what most magazines can't, get 3 hot celebrities, and one hot celebrity photographer together in the same room for 3 hours to produce a photo shoot for the express purpose of––helping out a friend who wanted to do something a little different.

Tasha Smith, breakout star of "Why Did I Get Married" and Daddy's Little Girls; Michael Ealy, of the hit movie Barbershop, and network TV show Sleeper Cell; and Johawrah Jones of Ugly Betty, all showed up at the studio of celebrity photographer John Russo for a day of fun and photos.

It was a pleasant surprise when Monarch Magazine publisher Will Walters agreed to publish the photos in and on the cover of the Summer 2007 issue.Darico_monarch_001

Three criteria must be met in order to make the panelist grade at a Crystal Wright's Portfolio Building & Marketing Workshop. A panelist must be in a position to hire an artist for a job, sign them to an agency or take them on as an assistant. Crystal Wright's October 21, 2007 workshop at Rouge Makeup Studio far exceed the students expectations when Wright brought in heavyweights from every corner of the industry.

In addition to all of the knowledge that is handed out, Crystal Wright was joined by Julia Heckler, a booker for Artists by Timothy Priano, fashion photographer Greg Hinsdale, AmberMag.com managing editor Marcia Cole, and industry veteran Mosi Singleton.
